Meeting the Princesses

The Disney Cruise had many opportunities to meet characters and the Princesses.  One was a meet and greet in the main lobby.  We saw the lines and crowds and thought we could see them from one of the balconies. . .
We watched them twirling in---one even saw us and waved.  Anna loved it, but. . . she wanted to go down to see them.
We thought maybe taking her to the Disney store would distract her. . . But, she just wanted to go down to meet them.  Thankfully, this was a two-day event.
The next day, her daddy seeing how much it meant to her, took his book to read and was the first one in line.
He had her Cinderella dress to change into, but she couldn't take the time to change---not with the princesses twirling in to see her.

Princes and Princesses Dinner

Our first formal night was called Prince and Princess Dinner which we had in our second restaurant Parrot Cay, a Caribbean jungle theme.

Shipboard Activities

Some may think of "Day's at Sea" as being just walking the promenade or sitting in chairs watching the ocean go by, but especially on this Disney cruise, there was plenty to do.
You could meet the random Disney character like Alice in Wonderland,
Hit the buffet for an extra sundae,
Play shuffle board or swim with "new" friends.
Attend a cooking class,

Character Breakfast

Our first day at sea was our "character breakfast".  Each of the three dining rotations has one while the ship was "at sea"---ours was first.  It was held in Parrot Cay, a Caribbean themed dining area.
So, while ordering, waiting for our order and eating breakfast, we had various Disney characters stop by the table to greet the guests, sign autographs, have photos made.  One woman I met said she works for Disney and this type of breakfast costs about $20 per person---it was included in the cost of the cruise.

Disney Cruise Embarkation Nov. 10

Let's back it up to earlier in the day. . .

First, Leah presented us with our Disney T-shirts which included a onesie for the one "hitch-hiking", not due to arrive until May!  Yes, the Warrens are expecting #3.

Then, we took our suitcases out to the front of our hotel Inn at Waterpark in Galveston, where a shuttle was going to pick us up.  Eli played min-golf out in front while we waited for the shuttle.

While waiting until our 11:30 AM embarkation, we had many photo opportunities.
While our rooms were still getting ready, we went to the top deck, had lunch and explored (very healthy, delicious sandwiches at Goofy's Galley)

Between Two Worlds

Most of my life, I've considered it fortunate that I was just ahead of the Baby-boom. Generally, the Baby-boomers were born between 1946 and 1964 after the fathers returned from World War II. It was a huge population explosion that has reverberated through American society.

This blog will be part history, part memories, part reflections of a retired teacher, but active "Senior". I have always felt like I straddled two generations forming a bridge. Sometimes I think like a baby-boomer, but sometimes I'm locked into my parents' Depression era thinking. I'm a dichotomy of two eras. But, I'm always ready to try something new---so here I am dipping my toes in the water of Blogworld.
