Branson Part Two

 The second day, we went to Table Rock Lake which is just outside of Branson.  The older adults visited the Visitor's Center while the children played in the late and explored.

Then, it was back to the Welk Resort with a relay race between the boys and the "girls".

That evening, we celebrated Eli's Birthday with a Glow in the Dark Party and pizza on the Welk Resort patio

Branson Part One

Before we left for Branson, Karen, Tom and Donna came to our house from northern Illinois and Boston.  It was great seeing them and having some time together before heading down to Branson.

The next day we drove down I-44 where we all rendezvoused at the Welk Resort.

I was a little concern at our return trip to Welk Resort, that the kids wouldn't have a good time---that they'd outgrown some of what I love about this resort in Branson.  The first night, three cousins got together to play Minecraft.  It may look like they aren't interacting but they are playing each other (and others at the Welk Resort) while the rest of us got re-acquainted in the lobby area.

 The next day, the kids wanted to swim---some went outside in the pool, some went to the indoor area for the water slide and some liked the little splash area.

 Others just relaxed, read and chit-chatted.  Later in the day, most of the group went to Dixie Stampede for an early dinner and show, and then back to the pool for some snacks and crafts.

Welk Resort

 The longer we stayed there, the more we liked the Welk Resort.  We stayed on the first level which meant we had no one across the hall from us and could easily walk outside where there was a playground, a pool, a large grassy area, mini-golf and a covered walk to take us to the restaurant and theater.

 Our children and grandchildren didn't really know who Lawrence Welk was, but they did have a statue and some memorabilia in the theater lobby.

It might not have been the greatest mini-golf, but the kids loved it.

The theater is a short distance, but they were having a national dance competition while we were there.  Later this summer will be "The Price is Right" with great prizes and Tony Orlando will be there for the Holiday Show.

 Several times we ate at the Stage Door Canteen (between the hotel and theater) and ordered room service and pool-side service from there.

The food was good, reasonable and so convenient.

 There was an atrium in the hotel which was right outside our rooms.  It was a great place for Grandpa to sit and read as well as a gathering spot for everyone.  We could eat or work at the tables.  It was very convenient.

In addition to the Splash-a-torium, there was a "boring pool" which was like having a private pool most of the time.  All in all we would recommend the Welk Resort---a mile from Table Rock, three miles from the strip with a lot of fun right there on site!
