Several times a year, I try to make cards for the grandchildren. First, I love them and miss them. Second, they all live out of town. Third, I have all of these supplies sitting around. Fourth, have you priced cards lately? Fifth, I like to make everyone feel better about their crafting abilities. Sixth, I want to leave a legacy of love. With grandchildren ranging from 14 to 1, I include money which they all will like better than the store-bought card.
Since 2 are still little, I didn't want theirs to be so scary. But the olders all had a warning on the front. I thought and though, "What could be scary to them?" I remembered the year I put my photo in Easter eggs and that gave me an idea!
Photos of their parents/grandparents with sill costumes. I found a stash of photos that were duplicates and away I went.
I hope they enjoyed them. Here are all of them since not every family can see what another family's looks like. Here are some of the cards over the past 6 years.

Making Valentines
We have a bit of family history making cards----many of our grandchildren make their own Valentines. We were with some as they were brainstorming ideas. Davis wanted baseball, Brett snakes but Libby was having a hard time so was looking at Pinterest ideas.
I knew I needed to kick it up a notch for the grandkids after I got home. I like for the cards to be different, personalized, but I wasn't feeling great. So, they all had the same sentiment on the front (although decorated differently): "Roses are red, Violets are blue" (all deliberately fancy and schmaltzy)
Eli's ended with "Legos and Minecraft get built, By someone like you." Anna's "Odd Squad or Frozen, We love you."
Sam's: "Bugs like dirt and mud, And so do you" Silas's: "Ants are little and so are you."
Libby: "Selena doesn't need Bieber, And neither do you." Davis: "Hazel likes to toot, and so do you"
Roman: "Frogs like water, and so do you." Brett: "Turtles are silly, And so are you."
Not a lot of creativity here, but the sentiment is "Grandpa and Grandma love you!"

Happy Fall Y'all!
| New Baby and Sam |
These jokes were from the internet---not original at all.
Getting a little nostaligic on these two. The four above are for Eli, Davis, Roman and Brett.
And something for the girls---Libby and Anna! Whew! That's a lot of mail. So, why do I make cards if I'm not very good? First, it is a gift of love (I clearly don't enjoy making them like friends of mine). Second, I'm cheap (I have the craft supplies and store bought cards are around $4 each). Third, I don't want to just stick $ in an envelope. Fourth, I want the kids to have random notes from Grandma to remind them how much I love them even if I don't see them very often.

Easter Cards
Every now and then I like to send the grandchildren cards that I made despite not being very good at it. I do have adequate craft supplies, a good sense of humor and not bad ideas, it's just the craftsmenship that is lacking.
I also like to make each family member a different card because I think a lot of the fun is sharing what each individual card says to parents and siblings. For other cards I've made, click here.
The first are the cards for Anna, Eli and Sam (I did get some help on the jokes from the internet for these three)
Sam: How do bunnies stay healthy? They eggs-ercize
Eli: Never tell an Easter egg a good joke! It may crack them up
Anna: Why was the Easter Bunny upset? She was having a bad "hare" day (Anna has had a bad "hare" day this year when she cut her own hair).
For Brett: Why did the egg like the baseball game? It had egg-stra innings. Here's some egg-stra money
For Davis: What do you call 5 male rabbits? 5 Bucks (not so much a joke as information---the joke is the money included)
For Roman: We hope this is Eggs-actly what you wanted. (money included)
For Libby: What does the Easter Bunny get for making a basket? Two points like everyone else.
I hope they enjoy the cards but more importantly I hope they know that Grandma and Grandpa love them so much that Grandma even does crafts for them!

Between Two Worlds
Most of my life, I've considered it fortunate that I was just ahead of the Baby-boom. Generally, the Baby-boomers were born between 1946 and 1964 after the fathers returned from World War II. It was a huge population explosion that has reverberated through American society.
This blog will be part history, part memories, part reflections of a retired teacher, but active "Senior". I have always felt like I straddled two generations forming a bridge. Sometimes I think like a baby-boomer, but sometimes I'm locked into my parents' Depression era thinking. I'm a dichotomy of two eras. But, I'm always ready to try something new---so here I am dipping my toes in the water of Blogworld.
