This being our 4th trip to Galveston, we decided to stay in one of the historic hotels---Tremont House.

This reminds me of several historic European hotels we have stayed in. High ceiling, decorated with antiques, but with a beautiful modern bathroom
The inside is rich with architectural details not found in most new hotels like an atrium lobby and a bar on loan from the historical society (rosewood)
Like many hotels this one has incorporated buildings near-by. This beautiful stairwell is part of the hotel on the first floor, but is actually a separate building
A walk around the block (our hotel is the white one) took me to the Strand area and just across the street from the cruise terminals.

Our room overlooks the theater, ballroom and a beautiful Mardi Gras gate. |
