Rachel, Libby and Dave (all red shirts)
Friday night in Kansas City found us in Lee's Summit for a baseball game. Little sister started to keep score but eventually lost count and wandered off to play with friends. The next day, Davis's game was rained out, but that gave him a little time to clean up for his sister's dance recital held at the Folly Theater!
Just as little sister wandered off during the baseball game, big brother also got a little distracted during the recital. This year's baseball-ballet weekend differed a little from last year's because Brett and Kyle were at Boy Scout Camp this year.

More Texas Fun
Anna helped Dad entertain her brother, made a drawing for her cousin Brett at camp. Eli entertained Aunt Dana with a magic show.

Grandpa in Texas
Although Grandpa spent a lot of time holding Sam, he also found some time for a few other activities, like a mean game of "Go Fish."
Bowling with Eli, reading Star Wars pop up books (and watching at least one Star Wars movie)

Dancing Rehearsal
Anna had her dance rehearsal on the big stage for her dancing recital at the McKinney Performing Arts Center in the old courthouse in the center of town. Such a fun venue in this old theater on the second floor.
Anna is the Cowardly Lion in one of her dance numbers and this was the first time they had performed with their tails. The teen sitting on the bench has a small role to play in each of the pre-school dance numbers, but I think she is mostly there to give the little ones some assurance and support.
Anna's ballet number is very sweet---I got some of it on video, but the spot lights really faded it out.

Aunt Jane and Uncle Rich
I feel very blessed that my sister and brother-in-law live so close to my daughter and grandchildren forming a special relationship with them. Jane always brings a craft for them to do which the kids love. And Richard loves spending time with Eli. Thank you Jane and Richard for "being there". Someday Sam will also love spending time with you.

Pre-School Leah
I love the photo above with cousin Lynn pushing Leah in the swing with her sister in the background. Below is such a good (headless) daddy who shoveled the driveway so his baby girl could ride her big wheel.
The photo above was in a Holidome in Columbia, Mo for Uncle Jim's wedding. The photo below was at St. Mark's picnic. And the one below that is is with Grandpa LeRoy on 4th of July at Lake Sherwood. And then, we have a photo of Leah writing out her Valentines.
The rest of these photos are pre-school photos: Trinity Lutheran and Hope Montessori.

Between Two Worlds
Most of my life, I've considered it fortunate that I was just ahead of the Baby-boom. Generally, the Baby-boomers were born between 1946 and 1964 after the fathers returned from World War II. It was a huge population explosion that has reverberated through American society.
This blog will be part history, part memories, part reflections of a retired teacher, but active "Senior". I have always felt like I straddled two generations forming a bridge. Sometimes I think like a baby-boomer, but sometimes I'm locked into my parents' Depression era thinking. I'm a dichotomy of two eras. But, I'm always ready to try something new---so here I am dipping my toes in the water of Blogworld.
