Happy 43rd Anniversary

I had intended to have photos from our wedding each year on this blog, but I missed a few years.  For other photos, click here and here.
These were the "hippy" years.  Although I didn't get married outside in a park like I would have liked.  I did have a wonderful outdoor reception planned in our church brick courtyard which had ivy everywhere---the ivy in my bouquet and hair were a nod to the outdoor reception. . . .it rained.  So, we were in the church basement---one of my least favorite places at Bellefontaine Methodist Church.  Protestants in the Mid-West and the South did not have large receptions but cake and punch in the church basement.  My reception was supposed to be an upgrade with appetizers, finger food in an outside reception. . . .oh well, we had a good time

The bouquet was caught by my high school friend Vicki (one of several who weren't invited but came anyway which was great)  My brother Jim caught the garter mostly because everyone else kept their hands in their pockets.  After the reception, I changed into my "going away" outfit and headed to Dave's gold Volvo.  We kept the weddings and reception simple back then and 43 years later we are still together.
The photographer gave me the photo below free because it was so horrible of me and Dad---my eyes are half closed and my always thin father looks like he has a beer belly.

Between Two Worlds

Most of my life, I've considered it fortunate that I was just ahead of the Baby-boom. Generally, the Baby-boomers were born between 1946 and 1964 after the fathers returned from World War II. It was a huge population explosion that has reverberated through American society.

This blog will be part history, part memories, part reflections of a retired teacher, but active "Senior". I have always felt like I straddled two generations forming a bridge. Sometimes I think like a baby-boomer, but sometimes I'm locked into my parents' Depression era thinking. I'm a dichotomy of two eras. But, I'm always ready to try something new---so here I am dipping my toes in the water of Blogworld.
