On our way to the Long Reunion last weekend, I was afraid we were going to be rained on all day.
While it did drip a little, the shelter kept us dry: L-R Dave Morgan, Dave Long, Bill Long.
Bill always brings something to share with us. Sometimes it is a photo, sometimes a shot gun, but this time, he brought his grandfather's watch.
Tom Long was my great-grandfather---most of these people are really my Dad's first cousins.
Virginia Lea was there with several of her daughters.
Pauline Long Schlett and Paul Long (Clyde's son)
Pauline Long Schlett (Jeptha's granddaughter) and Margie (Clyde Long's widow). Margie arranged for us to be at Spross Park which is very nice with some privacy---playground is close to the shelter.
Van Alen Long (Curtis's son) was there with his son Billy.
Billy talking with Paul's two daughters.
When it cleared a little, Pauline and I took a little walk.
Then, we joined everyone for some more chatter.
I am so happy Pauline and Walter came---turns out Pauline is a triple cousin of mine, but then, she's a cousin to herself, too (she is related to William Graham three times). And, it is always a pleasure to see Bill.

Between Two Worlds
Most of my life, I've considered it fortunate that I was just ahead of the Baby-boom. Generally, the Baby-boomers were born between 1946 and 1964 after the fathers returned from World War II. It was a huge population explosion that has reverberated through American society.
This blog will be part history, part memories, part reflections of a retired teacher, but active "Senior". I have always felt like I straddled two generations forming a bridge. Sometimes I think like a baby-boomer, but sometimes I'm locked into my parents' Depression era thinking. I'm a dichotomy of two eras. But, I'm always ready to try something new---so here I am dipping my toes in the water of Blogworld.
