Falmouth Jamaica

Our first destination was Falmouth Jamaica which is a relatively new port although the town and plantations have been around since the 1700's.  Yes, that handsome, smiling face is our grandson.

The new port area is large with many stores and restaurants. But we were headed on an excursion to the Good Hope Plantation for High Tea.  We first stopped at the bottom of the hill and then went to the top of the hill where the plantation house was.

Dave enjoying the shade (it was in the 80's) in front of the house.  Just below us was the carriage house which is a B and B now.

For a person who likes to take window shots, this was magnificent.

The ceiling was so interesting.  Later we found out it was cedar shake.  Although it had gaps and holes, the guide said it doesn't leak because the water swells the shingles.

Another Day at Sea

This was probably our favorite dining room where we often had breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Called "Triton", it was the more formal dining room.
We enjoyed the adult area of the pool where the living is easy and the lounge chairs are the best!

Hm, looks like there is going to be a wedding!
Later we had dinner.  For dessert, Jim ordered what we had all been eyeing---the Mickey Bar (the first of many consumed by the adults).

A Royal Day at Sea

We met the princesses on our first day at sea:  Snow White, Ariel, Cinderella and Tianna.  Click here to see the Princesses on Disney Magic which had a few different ones.

Later that evening, we had formal night with the Golden Mickey Show in the theater which showed characters and scenes from Disney movies.

Before Disney Wonder Sail-Away

We arrived in Galveston a few days early staying at the Hilton on Seawall Blvd. which was a great place to stay. Kroger, Walmart, IHOP, Landrys, Rainforest Cafe and the beach were all within walking distance.  The kids really enjoyed the pool and practiced snorkeling before their excursions on the cruise.
At night, there was musical entertainment which everyone enjoyed.

Embarkation was so quick and smooth (after Rachel's passport scare) we never even took photos. Soon, we were in the Buffet having lunch, checking out the ship and enjoying the warm November day.

When we got to our rooms, we discovered some great Disney swag since this was our 2nd cruise.

November in Dallas

My sister, daughter and I had a fun day in downtown McKinney--just us with no kids---a rare treat.
Not that the kids aren't a lot of fun!

We also went to a friend's house for a weenie roast, with a tour of their new garden.

Between Two Worlds

Most of my life, I've considered it fortunate that I was just ahead of the Baby-boom. Generally, the Baby-boomers were born between 1946 and 1964 after the fathers returned from World War II. It was a huge population explosion that has reverberated through American society.

This blog will be part history, part memories, part reflections of a retired teacher, but active "Senior". I have always felt like I straddled two generations forming a bridge. Sometimes I think like a baby-boomer, but sometimes I'm locked into my parents' Depression era thinking. I'm a dichotomy of two eras. But, I'm always ready to try something new---so here I am dipping my toes in the water of Blogworld.
