Fab Five

My sister and I had all of our children within 5.5 years.  These cousins remain as close today as when they were children.  I just ran across a batch of photos with the 5 of them.  The top 2 photos were taken when the Provosts lived in Pana, IL---a wonderful place to visit small town America with a soda fountain, a town pond to ice skate on and beautiful Victorian homes.

The above set of photos taken in 1985 was to celebrate my parents' 45th anniversary.  They had met at Union Station---the top photo was taken at the place they actually met.  What a wonderful memory to share with grandchildren.
They grow up so fast!  I think this photo was taken in Louisiana in 1988 where the Provosts moved.  My sister can correct me if I am wrong.  These photos will soon be distributed.  If you are one of the above people and have a favorite photo, e-mail me.  Otherwise, you may have to wait until Leah and Lynn get first dibs since I will be seeing them soon, I hope.

Between Two Worlds

Most of my life, I've considered it fortunate that I was just ahead of the Baby-boom. Generally, the Baby-boomers were born between 1946 and 1964 after the fathers returned from World War II. It was a huge population explosion that has reverberated through American society.

This blog will be part history, part memories, part reflections of a retired teacher, but active "Senior". I have always felt like I straddled two generations forming a bridge. Sometimes I think like a baby-boomer, but sometimes I'm locked into my parents' Depression era thinking. I'm a dichotomy of two eras. But, I'm always ready to try something new---so here I am dipping my toes in the water of Blogworld.
