Gardenland Express

We took Eli to the Missouri Botanical Garden (Shaw's Garden) to see the train exhibit this week. As you can see, he was in awe!

Every year, the Garden puts together a train show with a different theme each year. This year's theme celebrates the 150 year anniversary of the garden.
Mom and I came in 2006 for the "Gateway to the West" show. But, this year featured the Garden itself.
These are the "houses" in the garden---the Caretaker's cottage, Henry Shaw's Townhouse and his Country House.
The details included the statue of Henry Shaw,
the Palm House. . .
And the Climatron.
There's nothing like a little bit of whimsey

Several people said watching Eli was worth the price of admission.Of course, this was all done with beautiful floral displays.
But, we had to leave---we had errands to run and we wanted to visit Eli's sister!
As you can see leaving was not a popular idea with Eli, but I told him maybe his dad could take him again sometime. :-)

Between Two Worlds

Most of my life, I've considered it fortunate that I was just ahead of the Baby-boom. Generally, the Baby-boomers were born between 1946 and 1964 after the fathers returned from World War II. It was a huge population explosion that has reverberated through American society.

This blog will be part history, part memories, part reflections of a retired teacher, but active "Senior". I have always felt like I straddled two generations forming a bridge. Sometimes I think like a baby-boomer, but sometimes I'm locked into my parents' Depression era thinking. I'm a dichotomy of two eras. But, I'm always ready to try something new---so here I am dipping my toes in the water of Blogworld.
