Leah's Shower for Catana

L-R: Julie, Leah, Catana
Leah and Julie and Catana have all been friends since junior high---going to church, school, college and sorority together. Now, within about 7 months they will have daughters together, too.
While we wouldn't presume to tell Catana what to name her daughter, Julie (above) has Annie and Leah has Anna, so I have suggested Annabelle, Annaliese, Angela, Andora. . . .
Seeing Leah and Catana together, brought back a lot of memories since they have known each other since Kindergarten.

They were also in Indian Princesses together with their dads.
This is a group sponsored by the YMCA. Catana and Leah had a lot of fun times at Trout Lodge with their dads.

They rode horses, went canoeing, explored a bat cave and just hung out having fun.

Below, they look so goofy, you'd think they were related. . .After talking to Catana's aunt at the shower, they are related. Leah and Catana are 5th cousins, but this photo (below) gave me goose bumps.
They are digging for lead. Their common ancestor Jacob Tyrey came to Missouri where he was a . . . lead miner. Click here for more about their family tree.

Between Two Worlds

Most of my life, I've considered it fortunate that I was just ahead of the Baby-boom. Generally, the Baby-boomers were born between 1946 and 1964 after the fathers returned from World War II. It was a huge population explosion that has reverberated through American society.

This blog will be part history, part memories, part reflections of a retired teacher, but active "Senior". I have always felt like I straddled two generations forming a bridge. Sometimes I think like a baby-boomer, but sometimes I'm locked into my parents' Depression era thinking. I'm a dichotomy of two eras. But, I'm always ready to try something new---so here I am dipping my toes in the water of Blogworld.
