The Climatron
Ever since the Climatron (within the Missouri Botanical Garden) was built in 1960, it's been one of my favorite Winter destinations---it's like taking a short (30 minute) tropical vacation. Snow outside, 85 degrees inside.
I love the waterfalls and flowing water as well as the plants blooming.
They even have a Dale Chihuly glass exhibit---left from several years ago when the Garden featured Chihuly glass everywhere!
Since the Climatron was built, they've added the "Temperate House" which adjoins the Climatron. It was a little cooler and features Mediterranean plants with a portico from St. Leo's Catholic School ( 2332 Mullanphy St.)which was built in 1902 and razed in 1978.
I'm so glad one of my goals was to go to "Shaw's Garden" once very season---I should go more often---it is a St. Louis jewel!

Between Two Worlds
Most of my life, I've considered it fortunate that I was just ahead of the Baby-boom. Generally, the Baby-boomers were born between 1946 and 1964 after the fathers returned from World War II. It was a huge population explosion that has reverberated through American society.
This blog will be part history, part memories, part reflections of a retired teacher, but active "Senior". I have always felt like I straddled two generations forming a bridge. Sometimes I think like a baby-boomer, but sometimes I'm locked into my parents' Depression era thinking. I'm a dichotomy of two eras. But, I'm always ready to try something new---so here I am dipping my toes in the water of Blogworld.
